From an early age, I was encouraged to express myself through art. My father was a huge supporter of my art since he was an artist. My earliest memories of independence branch from my ability to create, paint, draw or sketch anything I wanted. Of course, my art skills matured from stick figures and became more focused on meaning, detail, and the time I took to complete my work. In every artwork I create I strive to push myself and face my struggles in creativity. My imagination and ambition to make myself exceed my own expectations are what inspire me to create artwork. The pieces I put into this show opened my eyes that I can accomplish anything as an artist as long as I try. The Oliver Ames art room will always be a place special to me. There I have met life long friends, have surpassed my own expectations, have learned and improved my art skills, and have grown as a person. I only spent 3 years in the art program at Oliver Ames but was lucky enough to start in Art 2 because of my prior art year at another school. As an artist of Oliver Ames, I received a Silver Key and 4 honorable mentions from the Scholastic Art Competition. To be able to finish as an artist in Art 4 is something I will always feel lucky and grateful for. It is one of my biggest accomplishments and joys to have stayed with this art program through my years at Oliver Ames. Art will forever be a part of my life and will always be essential. I am forever thankful for the skills and patience I’ve built as an artist in the Oliver Ames art room and the memories I have made there. |
